King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan meet with Iraqi Prime Minister

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz met separately with Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari in Riyadh yesterday. The meetings focused on the situation in Iraq, bilateral relations and overall developments in the Arab world.

In remarks to the press after his meeting with Al-Jaafari, Crown Prince Sultan appealed to the Iraqi people to unite for the benefit of their nation.

Saudi Arabia is confident that reason will prevail and that Iraqis will restore stability and security to the country, he said. The Crown Prince also noted that the political experiment in Iraq is difficult, but that he hoped Iraqis would be able to overcome it.

Al-Jaafari thanked Saudi Arabia for standing honorably by Iraq during these difficult circumstances and for the understanding shown by Saudi officials during the discussions. The two nations share a common enemy in terrorism, he said.
