Saudi Arabia to observe World AIDS Day

Saudi Arabia will observe tomorrow World AIDS Day. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Health Dr Hamad Al-Mane' underscored the importance of the enlightenment of both men and women on the menace caused by HIV/AIDS. He noted that strict adherence to the teachings of Islam, which advocates avoidance of all forms of vice, helps society to stay free of this dangerous disease. There must be cooperation between society and the family, he said, to promote awareness and urge people to behave properly. The Health Ministry has been exerting intensive efforts to protect the society from AIDS, not only carrying out awareness programs, but boosting the capabilities of the laboratories to enable them to detect and diagnose cases and opening three specialized treatment centers in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
