Head of the General Committee for the Municipal Elections Prince Mansour bin Me’teb bin Abdulaziz, speaking at the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh today, commented that the primary goal of conducting municipal elections in the Kingdom is to enable citizens to contribute to the management of the affairs of their community. The voter registration process, he said, is proceeding smoothly. For the preparation of the necessary regulations for the elections, advice was sought from international as well as local experts, including a team from the United Nations. There are over 600 polling stations to cover the 178 municipal councils to be elected throughout the Kingdom’s 13 provinces. Prince Mansour urged all citizens to report to these centers when called on to do so, to practice their right to vote.
