Prince Alwaleed finances housing project for the poor

As a part of his humanitarian project to provide housing for the poor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal built 1,000 homes in 2003. Construction was in six provinces: Asir (200 units), Jizan (200 units), Madinah (200 units), Jouf (200 units), Baha (100 units), and Hail (100 units). The housing project arose in response to the call of Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz after the latter’s visit to poor districts in the City of Riyadh early last year. Prince Alwaleed, who has committed to building 10,000 homes over a 10-year period, was the first to answer the Crown Prince's call to help alleviate the suffering of the poor and eradicate poverty from Saudi Arabia.
