Interior minister reiterates independence of Kingdom’s affairs

Minister of Interior Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz has refuted reports that the release of certain persons recently detained in Riyadh for investigation was due to foreign pressure. The decision to release the protesters, he said, was an internal one. Saudi Arabia, he reiterated, has since its foundation been tackling its affairs, both internal and external, in complete independence and under the influence of no outside party, but in accordance with the principles of Islam and the interests of the nation. Prince Nayef affirmed that the Kingdom will under no circumstances accept interference in its internal affairs, just as it does not interfere in the affairs of others.
