Security officer killed in Qasim Province as five terrorists arrested

The Interior Ministry has reported that security forces arrested a number of terrorist suspects in the suburbs of Unayzah in Qasim Province yesterday. The suspects had attempted to flee by car when security officers raided the house where they were in hiding and started to evacuate the women there. The five people were detained following a firefight when a supporting security unit was fired upon; two of those arrested are known members of the deviant group and wanted by the authorities. One of the security officers was killed in the exchange of fire, and eight of his colleagues were injured. A search of the house uncovered documents and currency as well as machine guns, pistols, pipe bombs and ammunition.

Governor of Qasim Province Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz and Assistant Minister of the Interior Prince Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz performed funeral prayers today for the slain security officer Fahd bin Mohammed Al-Olayyan, and later visited those who had been hospitalized.
