Crown Prince approves funding for youth training

Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz yesterday chaired a meeting of the committee on training and employment of Saudi youth attended by head of the committee Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz. Governor of the General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training (GOTEVOT) Dr. Ali bin Nasser Al Ghifais reported that the Crown Prince had approved the committee's recommendations for funding 20 new colleges of technology that can receive 60,000 secondary school graduates, and 39 technological institutes for 40,000 trainees, at a cost of SR 1.9 billion [U.S. $ 0.51 billion] and SR 1.54 billion [$ 0.41 billion] respectively. In addition, a military vocational project for 10,000 trainees annually, costing SR 270 million [$ 72.1 million], is to be set up by the National Guard in cooperation with GOTEVOT, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Defense and Aviation.
