King Fahd receives ALESCO award

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz was presented in Riyadh yesterday with the Gold Medal awarded to him by the Arab League Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ALESCO) in recognition of his services to Arab and Muslim countries as well as to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The citation refers to King Fahd as one of the most distinguished leaders in history working for the advancement of the Arab and Islamic worlds. The medal was presented to King Fahd on behalf of ALESCO's President Dr. Al-Munji Bu-Sunainah by Minister of Education Dr. Mohammed Al-Rasheed. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Rasheed commented on King Fahd's wise policies that on many occasions brought brothers together, resulting in beneficial outcomes. In addition, he said, King Fahd has actively participated in spreading knowledge by establishing schools and universities as well as creating learning opportunities for all, throughout the Kingdom.
