Health ministry cautions pilgrims on spread of SARS

The Ministry of Health has requested that all those arriving in the Kingdom for Hajj or Umrah [the minor pilgrimage] from countries affected by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) must present documents showing that they have spent the previous ten days in a SARS-free country. This is a precautionary measure to ensure that nobody carrying the disease is admitted into Saudi Arabia, which remains free of SARS. The measure is subject to revision, depending on new developments related to the disease.
