GCC foreign ministers hold 88th meeting in Jeddah

The foreign ministers of member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) concluded their two-day 88th meeting in Jeddah today, chaired by Qatari foreign minister Shaikh Hamad bin Jasim bin Jaber Al-Thani. Also present were the foreign ministers of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal and GCC Secretary-General Abdulrahman Al-Atiyyah. Yesterday evening, the foreign ministers met with representatives of the GCC's Consultative Commission for a briefing on the Commission's views on the economic and social role of women and the comprehensive perspective for population issues, which they will study prior to forwarding the recommendations to the upcoming 2003 GCC Summit in Kuwait.
