Saudi Arabia embarks on fourth generation of ARABSAT

The Arab Satellite Communications Organization 'ARABSAT' today hosted the signing of a contract on the manufacture and launching of the fourth generation of ARABSAT satellites. The signing was attended by Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Fuad Al-Farsi, and Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Muhammad Mulla. In his address Dr. Farsi commented that the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz has supported ARABSAT since its foundation, and that Saudi Arabia is the largest shareholder in the Riyadh-based organization, with 36 percent of its shares. Dr. Al-Farsi also announced that the Fourth News Channel will soon start transmission.
