Prince Saud Al-Faisal on brief visit to Cairo

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal left Cairo today after a brief visit to Egypt, during which he conveyed a message from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd bin Abdulaziz and Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to Egyptian President Muhammad Hosni Mubarak. Prince Saud also held talks with Egyptian foreign minister Ahmed Maher. At a joint press conference following these talks, he denied media reports that the U.S. administration was putting pressure on the Kingdom to change its position regarding the situation in Iraq, and expressed the hope that Iraq's acceptance of the return of UN weapons inspectors will contribute to cooling down the tension in the region. It is still to be hoped, he said, that Iraq will implement all the UN Security Council resolutions related to the liberation of Kuwait.
