Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz has approved the regulations governing the Prince Sultan International Award for Water, which aims at rewarding the efforts and researches of scholars and scientific institutions that contribute to devising solutions for providing potable water and economizing its consumption. The Prize, which will be awarded once every two years, will cover five topics: surface water, underground water, non-traditional water resources, water-source management, and protection of water sources. Some SR 6 million [U.S. $ 1.6 million] has been allocated for the award, with a prize of SR 500,000 [$13,350] for each topic plus SR 500,000 [$13.350] for expenses. Heading the board of directors will be Dr. Khaled bin Abdulrahman Al-Himoudi, with Dr Abdulmalik bin Abdulrahman Al-Shaikh as the Secretary-General. The names of the other board members, together with the regulations and other details, will be announced in due course.
