Ministry of Health reports on AIDS cases in Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Health revealed today that 1,285 cases of AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome), in varying degrees, have been identified in Saudi Arabia since the start of the registration process in the Kingdom in 1984.  Of these, only 452 are in the final stage. The Ministry is currently preparing an awareness and information program to enlighten people on how the disease spreads and the means of avoiding it. The Ministry's budget includes coverage of the cost of medicine for those afflicted, as well as the establishment of three laboratories, in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, to follow up and evaluate the cases.
