Prince Saud receives call from U.S. Secretary of State

Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal received a telephone call on Saturday from U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, during which they discussed the latest Israeli military escalations in the Palestinian territories, the destruction of civil and security infrastructure of the Palestinian Authority, and the siege imposed on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. In a press statement yesterday, U.S. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher, confirmed that the conversation dealt with Israel's latest actions in Ramallah around Arafat's headquarters, which escalate the situation and do nothing towards achieving the security and civil reforms that the Palestinian Authority is trying to carry out, and called on Israel to carefully consider the consequences of such actions.
