Symposium on Saudi economy to be held in Riyadh

Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, a five-day international symposium entitled 'Vision of the future for the Saudi economy' will be held in the King Faisal Hall at Riyadh Intercontinental Hotel from October 19-23 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Planning in collaboration with the World Bank. The opening session will be chaired by Minister of Industry and Electricity Dr. Hashim Yamani, and former Japanese Minister of Economy and International Trade and Industry Kaoru Yosano is expected to speak on the Japanese experience in promoting partnership between the public and the private sectors. Other presentations include 'Petrochemicals for the Kingdom's industry: past, present and future', by chairman of the Al-Zamil Group, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Zamil; 'Diversification of the Industrial Sector' by Dr. Saleh bin Eid Al-Hosayni of the Ministry of Industry and Electricity; 'Fundamental elements for diversification of the economic base in the Kingdom' by Adel bin Muhammad Faqih of the Safula company; 'International and regional challenges facing the Saudi industrial sector' by Sulaiman Al-Mandeel of the Saudi Industrial Investment Company; 'Future strategy for the industrial sector, to 2020', by UNIDO's director of research and industrial policies, Richard Fredric; 'Diversification of the Saudi Economy', by Dr. Tarek bin Muhammad Al-Salloum of the Supreme Economic Council; and 'Fostering diversification and competitiveness: Strategies and options for the Kingdom of Saud Arabia' by Dr. Rughvir Khemani of the World Bank.
