Crown Prince Abdullah at 25th anniversary of SABIC

Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz attended in Riyadh today the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). During the celebrations, SABIC's new Riyadh headquarters were inaugurated, and the organization's veteran employees were honored.

The Kingdom has 18 industrial complexes that produce over 36 million tons of various petrochemical and mineral products. SABIC products are marketed in more than 100 countries, and these exports represent almost 70 percent of the non-oil total. SABIC's 15,000 employees are about 78 percent Saudi.

Minister of Industry and Electricity Dr. Hashem Yamani, who chairs the board of directors of SABIC, announced plans for an annual prize for the promotion of applied science research that serves the goals of development, requesting the Crown Prince's approval for it to be named the 'Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz prize for the promotion of scientific research'.
