Arab sustainable development council proposed

Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation Prince Fahd bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Saud, who also chairs the executive bureau of the Arab Environmental Ministerial Council, has proposed the formation of an Arab Council for Sustainable Development at the level of prime ministers of the League of Arab States, with the environmental council acting as its general secretariat. He made this proposal in Cairo yesterday at a joint Arab meeting of the ministers of environment, economy and planning held in preparation for the world summit on sustainable development scheduled for September next year in Johannesburg, South Africa, commenting that such a council would protect Arab economic interests at that Summit.
