Emergency Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo

Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Nizar Madani left Cairo today after attending the emergency meeting of the foreign ministers of the League of Arab States that was called at the request of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East situation. Yesterday, Dr. Madani described the meeting as "a necessary and natural reaction to Israeli attacks against the Palestinian people", and reported that significant decisions were taken to continue financial backing for the Palestinian intifadah (uprising), and to work for international support for the Palestinian cause and Israel's compliance with international resolutions.
