The Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) held a regular session today under the chairmanship of Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Jubair, and discussed procedures for alms collection and endowments. The Council also discussed its earlier decision concerning revision of the social security regulations and the creation of links among the authorities for social security, pensions, and social insurance to avoid unwarranted duplication of payments. Also discussed was a national plan in which all concerned ministries would participate, for dealing with the problem of begging.

The Council then ratified the Paris International Agreement on protection of agricultural products and the Berne International Agreement on Literary and Artistic Works, with the provision that there be no contravention of the rules of Shariah [Islamic law].
