Upon the directives of the leaderships in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Yemen, and based on what had previously been decided at the meeting in Sana'a on August 14-15, 2000, interior minister of the Republic of Yemen Major-General Hussein Mohammad Arab visited Saudi Arabia on October 28-29, 2000 at the head of a delegation comprised of the Yemeni side of the Saudi-Yemeni joint technical committee, and held several meetings with Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz and senior Saudi officials. These meetings reviewed what had been carried out so far by the various concerned joint committees and the results they had achieved. In this regard, it was decided that the joint technical committee would hold meetings to prepare a letter of invitation to the company chosen to implement the project of delineation of the border line according to the international border treaty between the two countries.
The meeting also reviewed the works of the committee on determining the border crossing points and directives were issued to take the necessary procedures for the service and interests of the two brotherly peoples. Also, the meeting named the heads of the two sides in the committee formed to regulate the border authorities between the two countries and directed it to make contacts to hold its meetings. The two sides further expressed satisfaction at the results of the meetings of the military committee and its affiliated committees, emphasizing the continuation of that brotherly spirit prevailing in the works of those joint committees.
The two sides expressed satisfaction at the concrete steps taken towards implementation of the international border treaty and its annexes and the spirit of cooperation and understanding that prevailed at the meetings.
