Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz today launched the third national campaign to make residents of the Kingdom aware of the importance of preserving water and rationalizing its use. In his address to the nation, he announced that the current campaign has the slogan: "Water: Mystery of Life". He stressed that the Saudi government makes water available to everybody, in spite of the challenging natural circumstances of high temperatures, scarcity of rainfall, and a complete lack of lakes or running rivers.

For his part, Minister of Agriculture and Water Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Bin Mu'ammar stated that the campaign is urging the use of economical plumbing appliances such as self-closing faucets and air-compression shower heads, and the reduction of the amount of water in flushing toilets. The campaign will also target re-cycling of water discharged from public places like schools and mosques, for irrigation of nearby parks and gardens. Dr. Mu'ammar appealed to businessmen and real estate investors to implement the goals of the campaign in future architectural designs. He also appealed to the general public to use recycled water for car washing and irrigation of shade trees, and to check the water supply inside their homes, repairing any damage to avoid leakage and water loss.
