In its meeting today, the Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) discussed the planned system for regulating private laboratories, setting standards and restrictions for both imported and locally-produced foodstuffs and medicines and organizing non-governmental facilities to meet the standards and specifications set by the concerned government authorities including the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization (SASO).

In yesterday's meeting, the Shura Council approved an amendment in the unified economic agreement of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), deleting national ownership as a condition for acquiring the characteristic of national origin for goods being traded among the GCC member states. This is in line with recent investment laws.
