A 'Woman and Child' festival was opened in Jeddah today by Princess Hussah Al-Sha'lam, wife of Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. Speaking on the occasion, Princess Hussah praised the large grants given annually by the government to charitable societies all over the Kingdom. These societies, she said, improve the economic, social, health and cultural standards of the family unit, and particularly help women and children. 'Woman and Child' festivals like the one in Jeddah open up new recreational horizons as well as strengthening social and family ties.
In her address, chairperson of the Al-Faisaliyah Charitable Society Princess Fahdah Bint Saud Bin Abdul Aziz pointed out the contribution towards planning and organizing domestic tourism for women and children, noting the success of the current 'Woman and Child' festival in gaining promotion by the Jeddah tourism committee.
