In Jeddah today Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz received visiting Yemeni Minister of the Interior Major-General Hussein Mohamed Arab and his accompanying delegation. At the end of the two-day official visit, a communiqué was issued., which included the following statement:
"The meetings were designed to draw up the general framework for putting into effect the articles of the International Border Treaty and its annexes according to a timetable still to be set.
"It was decided that the joint military committee should hold meetings to fix the route for patrols, and to draw up a timetable for the operation of evacuating the posts on both two sides, re-positioning them and withdrawing the forces to the distance agreed upon according to the treaty and its annexes.
"At the same time, the joint technical team should hold meetings to determine the technical characteristics of the border markers to be effected between the two countries in accordance with the treaty, and to set out the regulations and procedures for appointing a company to implement the border demarcation, drafting the necessary contract for that purpose and establishing the time schedule for it.
"The military committee and the technical team, both satisfied with their discussions, concluded a joint protocol, which was signed by the interior ministers of the two countries. The protocol delineates the necessary steps to be taken to implement the provisions of the treaty and its annexes as well as the time schedule needed.
"The two sides expressed complete agreement to work as one, and do whatever guarantees the implementation of the treaty and its annexes, taking into consideration the fraternal relations between the two countries, the common interests of the two sisterly peoples, and whatever will realize for them security and stability."
