Kingdom gives donation to UN disaster fund

The United Nations today expressed gratitude for the donation extended in the name of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to the UN fund for prevention of disasters, both natural and man-made. Crown Prince Abdullah made the announcement yesterday while addressing the UN Millennium Summit in the presence of 150 leaders and heads of state, and attesting to the importance of supporting the role of the world organization as peace maker and not only peace preserver. The Crown Prince declared that it has been proven that endeavoring to prevent the occurrence of conflict is more viable and less costly than exerting efforts and dissipating energies to preserve peace following the explosion of the situation.
