The oil refinery at Yanbu, an affiliate of Saudi Aramco, has recently been awarded two international prizes
from the United States National Council for Safety on account of its excellent standard of safety in
industrial performance. From December 1995 to December 1999, the refinery completed over 4 million
man-hours with no accidents. The Council, established in 1913, is a non-governmental and non-profit organization with 17,000 members from over 70 countries. Its aim is to promote safety and health in industrial facilities.
