The communiqué issued by the Ministers of Justice of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council
(GCC) at the end of their 12th meeting in Riyadh yesterday stated that agreement had been reached on the
drafting of unified penal measures and standard regulations for custodial penalties. Also discussed were
experts' recommendations concerning treatment of juveniles and dealings with the international criminal
court. In the communiqué the ministers condemned Israel's recent blatant aggression against unarmed
Palestinians, its desecration of Islamic holy sites, the shooting at worshippers in the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque,
and heinous crimes against women, children, and the elderly in the occupied Palestinian territories. They
called on the international community, world organizations and the Security Council of the United Nations
to shoulder their responsibilities and take the necessary measures to halt these ugly crimes, which go
against international principles, norms and agreements.
