Foreign ministers sign protocol at Arab Summit

At their meeting early this morning to prepare the final draft of the communiqué to be issued by the Arab

Summit currently convening in Cairo, the foreign ministers of the Arab states signed an appendix protocol

concerning a mechanism for convening regular periodic meetings at the Arab Summit level each year

during the month of March, effective 2001. The signing of the protocol, carried out for the Kingdom of

Saudi Arabia by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister

and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz as head of the Saudi

delegation to the conference.
