Addressing the First International Environment Forum yesterday in Jeddah, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation Prince Abdelrahman bin Abdulaziz expressed the hope that the document arising from the conference, reflecting as it does the great attention the Muslim world is giving to the environment, would be adopted by the assembly of the Organization of the Islamic Conference scheduled to be held in Qatar next month, and that the Jeddah Environment Declaration would be presented in the name of all Islamic countries at the 2002 summit.

Meanwhile, he urged rich countries to take into account the interests of the poor in implementing their projects, warned of exhausting natural resources as well as polluting the environment, and called for international cooperation to solve environmental problems.
