Saudi pharmaceutical conference in Riyadh

Governor of Riyadh Province Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz opened yesterday the Fifth International Conference organized by the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society. The three-day conference will discuss a number of issues related to pharmacology, giving priority to the issue of public awareness of the correct use and preservation of medicines.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Health Dr. Osama Bin Abdulmajed Shobokshi spoke of the vital role being played by the Society in extending pharmaceutical care to the Kingdom, and expressed the hope that the recommendations of the conference will implemented.
In a press statement prior to the conference, Governor of Tabuk Province and Honorary Chairman of the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society Prince Fahd Bin Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz reported that the Society has over 700 members. He said that the pharmaceutical sector is growing very fast, and there is a demand to establish colleges for the study of pharmacology, since the current number of graduates in the field is not enough. He also praised the advance in manufacturing pharmaceuticals in the Kingdom, adding that there is a great demand for locally-produced medicines.
