Electricity symposium makes recommendations

The Tenth Symposium of Arabian Gulf Electric Companies, with the theme of 'Load Management and Rationalization of Consumption' ended in Jeddah today. Recommendations of the symposium include applying a flexible tariff system according to the time of usage, especially for large consumers, so that electric power can be rationalized during peak hours; improving transfer and distribution performance; encouraging university research centers as well as the power companies themselves to initiate studies aimed at better usage of electricity; and setting up of monitoring centers for distribution networks. The symposium also recommended the use of thermal insulation in both residential and industrial buildings, and urged all agencies to adhere to regulations and standards and to work for maintaining optimum power flow.
