Information Minister Dr. Fouad Al-Farsi reported that the cabinet went on to stress the need for drastic
measures by the international community to stop the massacres and criminal acts of terror that are
being perpetrated in Kosovo by the Serbs. The King then briefed the cabinet on his talks with
Lebanese Prime Minister Dr. Salim Al-Hoss, which reflected the strength and depth of the relations
between the Kingdom and Lebanon.
Expressing the cabinet's pain and sorrow at the death of King Hussein, King Fahd stated: "The Kingdom
of Saudi Arabia, which has strong relations with brotherly Jordan, expresses its condolences to King
Abdullah Bin Al-Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to the royal family and the
brotherly people of Jordan, on the death of King Hussein, who was a good brother and friend and a
distinguished personality, and whose death will affect not only the people of Jordan, but all Arab and
Islamic nations, and the entire world." The cabinet extended good wishes to King Abdullah Bin
Al-Hussein in following in King Hussein's footsteps, stressing that the Kingdom stands beside Jordan in
this critical situation.
Turning to domestic issues, the cabinet adopted a number of resolutions, including approval of the
recommendations of the committee on environment concerning drafting a mass media policy on the
scientific facts of the phenomena of weather changes, and formulating general guidelines for Saudi
delegations participating in conferences on the environment, in order to present consistent information
on the Kingdom's position on environmental affairs.
