Kingdom Attends Geneva Meeting On Blindness

The executive committee of the International Agency for Combating Blindness in the Eastern Mediterranean held a meeting yesterday, which was attended by Prince Abdulaziz Ibn Ahmed Ibn Abdul Aziz, head of the agency's regional bureau. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Abdulaziz referred to the upcoming international conference in March, organized by the Arab-African Ophthalmology Council in collaboration with the World Health Organization's Cairo office. This conference will include discussion of blindness and its problems. He also commented on the mobile treatment units that have been operating in a number of Asian and African countries, which have so far carried out 9,556 surgical operations in addition to treating 80,600 outpatients, providing 19,3000 of them with spectacles to alleviate their eye problems.
