Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General, addressed the Fifth Saudi Engineering Conference in Makkah yesterday, and expressed pride in Saudi engineers and their ambitions to serve their country.  He called on all the Colleges of Engineering, the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, and the various institutes of vocational training, to redouble their efforts to produce qualified personnel in scientific fields, saying: "We need the Kingdom to be a modern country in its systems, technology and practices.  At the same time, we need to remain committed to our Islamic values; and Islam does not forbid us from benefiting from sciences." The conference was organized by the College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture at the Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah in collaboration with the general administration for military works at the Ministry of Defense and Aviation. A number of specialists from member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council are taking part in the conference.
