Statement from Saudi Red Crescent Chairman

At a press conference concerning the delegation from the Saudi Arabian Red Crescent Society which is heading for Albania to review the situation in Kosovo and evaluate the needs of the victims of Serb aggression, chairman Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Suweilem stated that a field hospital and ten health centers would be set up, and that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz is encouraging doctors to join the relief campaign.  Dr. Al-Suweilem added that funds raised for the people of Kosovo have now reached SR 50 million (U.S. $ 13.3 million), in addition to 300 tons of foodstuffs and 30 tons of medicine. Also at the press conference was the visiting Chairperson of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, who said the aim of her current tour in the Kingdom was to effect a concerted effort for displaced persons and refugees in the Balkan region.
