Saudi aid to Kosovar refugees

It was announced today that Chairman of the Saudi Red Crescent Society Dr. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Suweilem will leave Riyadh for Albania at the head of a medical relief team which will tour the locations of refugees from Kosovo in order to estimate their daily needs and to determine a suitable site for the establishment of temporary health units and food distribution centers. Following a meeting in Riyadh on Saturday with the visiting president of the international federation for the societies of the red cross and red crescent, Minister of Health Dr. Osama Shobokshi gave assurances that the Saudi Red Crescent Society is coordinating constructively with the international red cross organizations.
Meanwhile, the Jeddah-based International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) has recently provided urgent assistance worth SR 45 million (U.S. $ 12 million), one third of this in cash and the rest in items such as foodstuffs, medicines, tents, and clothes.
