Saudi Arabia assesses its aid to Kosovar refugees

The Saudi Joint Committee for the Relief of the Kosovar Refugees will hold its first assessment meeting tomorrow in Riyadh. The Committee's President, and President of the Saudi Red Crescent Society, Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Suweilem, will preside over the meeting, which will be attended by a number of governmental bodies in addition relief organizations in the Kingdom.  The meeting will review reports on achievements so far and plans for the future.

Meanwhile, the International Islamic Relief Organization (IIRO) reported today that it has extended over SR 4.5 million (U.S. $ 1.2 million) to the Kosovar refugees in addition to foodstuffs and relief supplies.  It also reported that twenty containers of food, medical supplies and blankets are being prepared for shipment by sea to Albania. Last Wednesday, a plane carrying 12 tons of milk donated by Al-Marai Dairy left Riyadh for Tirana.
In addition, Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General, issued directives last Tuesday for the Saudi field hospital in Tirana to be provided with an X-ray machine.
