The secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has announced that most of its member

states had issued standardized passports that can be read electronically, a decision made

at the 18th GCC Summit in Kuwait in 1997.  The aim is to facilitate travel of Gulf citizens

among the six states: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab

Emirates.
