Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal met today in Doha with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad
Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and gave him a verbal message from Deputy Prime Minister and Commander
of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz. Prince Saud had already met
yesterday in Kuwait with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah. These meetings are
part of a routine tour of the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to
consult on matters of mutual interest. Yesterday in Muscat, Prince Saud commented on oil prices, and declared that what was
extraordinary was the slide in the price, not the subsequent rise. He added that the
situation is now stable, and benefiting both the producers, whether OPEC or non-OPEC, and
the consumers. He expressed the hope that oil production quotas would remain at their
current level.
