Secretary-General of Economic Council appointed

A royal decree issued today names Dr. Abdulrahman Bin Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Tuweijiri as Secretary-General and rapporteur of the newly established Supreme Economic Council (SEC), with immediate effect.  Dr. Al-Tuweijiri is Professor of Economics at King Saud University in Riyadh, and the Kingdom's representative to the International Monetary Fund (IMF). At the same time, the Minister of Industry and Electricity was added to the composition of SEC. A separate decree expanded the permanent committee to include the Ministers of Industry and Electricity, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Labor and Social Affairs; plus the Governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA) and Minister of State and Cabinet Member Dr. Matlab Al-Nafisa. Earlier, it was decreed that in the absence of the chairman of the permanent committee, the deputy would be Minister of Finance and National Economy Dr. Ibrahim Al-Assaf.
