Proud of its mail services to over 5,000 towns and villages in the country, Saudi Arabia

will celebrate World Post Day tomorrow, to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the

International Postal Union (IPU) in 1874.  Based in Berne, Switzerland, IPU currently has

189 members. Saudi Arabia is one of the veterans, having joined in 1929. Meetings are held

every five years, and the Kingdom was elected to the executive committee in 1979 and again

in 1984.
