Kingdom addresses UN on issue of dialogue

In an address to the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Permanent UN Representative Fawzi Shobokshi said the Kingdom is concerned with enhancing cooperation among all peoples, and that Islam is a religion of peace, criticizing those who try to defame it. He reiterated that the phenomenon of terrorism is an international one, and the UN should exert efforts to contain it.  Saudi Arabia, he said, supports the UN's designation of the year 2001 as a year of dialogue among nations, adding that this reflects the resolution of the 26th session of foreign ministers of the states of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), which called for "peace and partnership for development".
