Council of Ministers meeting

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz today chaired the regular weekly

session of the Council of Ministers, and briefed the cabinet on the contents of his talks

with Emir of the State of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa during the latter's visit

to Riyadh, which, he said, reflects the "firmness and depth of the relations binding the

two peoples".  He went on to state that Saudi Arabia and Bahrain both work to realize the

welfare and prosperity of Arab and Islamic nations as well as of all the member states of

the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).  He confirmed that the two countries share identical

views with regard to international events, since both work for fairness to all and the

realization of world security and stability.

Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector-General Prince

Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz then briefed the cabinet on the outcome of his talks with the defense

minister of the Republic of France Alain Richard, indicating that relations between the two

countries were distinguished and that both countries seek mutual benefit for their peoples.
Turning to domestic issues, the cabinet approved the renewal of the commercial and economic

agreement concluded between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Syrian Arab Republic for

one more year, effective November 4, 1999.
