Saudi-Iranian statement on Muslim Parliament Federation

In a joint statement issued on the occasion of the visit to the Kingdom from October 10 to

17 by Speaker of the Iranian Consultative Council Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri, he and the

Chairman of the Saudi Shura Council Sheikh Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Bin Jubair declared that

they welcomed the idea of establishing a federation of parliaments of Muslim countries,

saying this would cement cooperation among them.

During his visit, Mr. Nouri was received by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin

Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the National Guard Crown Prince Abdullah

Bin Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and

Inspector-General Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, and Governor of Riyadh Province Prince

Salman Bin Abdul Aziz. The talks, held in an atmosphere of fraternity and understanding,

come within the framework of the fraternal relations that exist between the Islamic

Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
