The announcement was made on the fringes of the first conference of medical societies in the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which began its deliberations in Manama today. Some 500 doctors from European countries and the United States as well as the GCC member states are participating in the three-day conference, under the slogan: "Gulf health care development is a joint goal." Saudi Health Minister Dr. Osama Ibn Abdulmajeed Shobokshi is representing the Kingdom. On his arrival, Dr. Shobokshi said the conference would discuss vital medical issues related to the development of medical services at the level of human cadres and health facilities for the 21st century.
