Customs Department upgrading system

Director-General of the Customs Department Dr. Mohammad Al-Jaber announced today that a five-year plan is being implemented to upgrade the regulations governing customs in order to promote stronger trade relations with other countries and equal the most advanced methods for international commerce, including computerization.   He said that this plan is the result of a two-year study which involved consultation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Meanwhile, the technical committee for customs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is today holding in Kuwait its tenth meeting to discuss unification of the GCC customs regulations, and their reformulation to be in conformity with the guidelines of the World Trade Organization (WTO) of which most of the GCC states are members.
