Shura Council meeting discusses pilgrim services

The Consultative Council (Majlis Al-Shura) held meetings today and yesterday chaired by Sheikh Muhammad Ibn Ibrahim Ibn Jubeir, and passed a resolution concerning the organization of services to be rendered to those coming from overseas to perform umrah (the minor pilgrimage) or to visit the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah.  The bill has been forwarded to the Council of Ministers for final approval.   The articles cover specification of services, that is, who will provide them and in what manner;  minimum capital restrictions for any company offering such services;  minimum requirements for staff including reputation as well as experience;  the company's responsibility concerning availability of information on the health of visitors and their ability to return home;  standards for the services to be provided and guarantees for visitors' documentation;  and penalties to be taken against any company failing to fulfill these articles.
