Prince Sultan acquires historic photographs

Prince Sultan Ibn Abdul Aziz, Second Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation

and Inspector-General, has acquired for the Kingdom rare historical photographs of the Two

Holy Mosques, taken by Mohammed Sadeq Bey in 1881 and 1882.  The eighteen albums of

photographs, auctioned by Sotheby's of London for 1,376,500 sterling pounds, were taken at

thirteen different locations in the two cities, and include the Ka'abah, the Grand Mosque, the

Prophet Muhammad's Mosque, the hills of Safa and Marwa, and Hajj events at Mina.
