New projects to improve the City of Jeddah

The Mayor of the City of Jeddah Dr. Nazeeh Naseef recently announced the municipality's plans to give the city a major face-lift. Among the projects to be undertaken will be improvements to the urban road network in order to ease traffic congestion, including expansion of the Makkah-Madinah highway to four lanes, and the introduction of electronic warning signs to advise motorists.  Dr. Naseef also commented on the progress of rainwater drainage projects in the city, three-quarters of which, he said, are nearing completion, and on the major development project for the south corniche, which will include the construction of a number of leisure facilities and a the new road to give the public easier access to the area.
